Background
The While You Wait functionality is very useful for directing patrons to titles that are available to check out while they are waiting for their holds to be filled. However, within a consortium, it can direct patrons to materials that are available in an eContent format, but are not currently available in a physical format. This can lead patrons to adding additional holds on physical materials rather than being able to read the material immediately. This can also direct patrons to request materials via local ILL which can cause even longer wait times and costs to the patron.
The You Might Also Like functionality uses the same underlying functionality and can cause the same issues.
This development will provide a solution for both features.
Goal
This development will add new options for libraries to control what materials are suggested through While You Wait and You Might Also Like to minimize wait times and better meet patron needs.
This development will also split the options for You Might Also Like from While You Wait so they can be controlled independently.
