Grove is pleased to announce contributions to the Aspen 25.07 release, featuring push notifications in Aspen LiDA for Koha and Sierra libraries, along with more than 70 additional enhancements across the Aspen Discovery platform.

Push Notifications for Patron Account Notices

Account notices, like due date reminders and hold alerts, are among the most essential communications libraries send to patrons. As more users engage with their libraries through mobile apps, expectations are growing for real-time, app-based alerts.

To meet this need, Grove has introduced push notifications for Aspen LiDA, giving patrons a modern, seamless experience right from their mobile device. This update is available for libraries using the Koha or Sierra integrated library systems. Libraries interested in this development for a different ILS should reach out to us about custom development.

Push notifications are supported for all notice types in Koha, and the following notices in Sierra:

      • Hold Ready for Pickup
      • Hold Ready to Expire
      • Checkout Due Soon
      • Checkout 1 Day Overdue
      • Checkout 7 Days Overdue
      • Checkout 14 Days Overdue
      • Bill for Unreturned Item

Search Relevance, Materials Requests, and More

Beyond push notifications, Aspen 25.07 includes a wide range of improvements, including:

  • Smarter relevancy matching when searching with partial author and title combinations
  • Improved materials request handling
  • Expanded format faceting—all formats are now shown (previously limited to 30)
  • Better format determination 4K Blu-rays
  • And dozens of additional refinements to performance, usability, and metadata display

We’d like to thank the following libraries for sponsoring development from Grove for Aspen 25.07:
