Grove for Libraries Announces Contributions to the Aspen 26.07 Release

Grove's contributions to the Aspen 26.07 release include enhancements to Aspen LiDA, search and discovery, collection management, and third-party integrations, providing libraries with additional tools to customize workflows, manage collections, and further tailor Aspen to the needs of their communities.


Full Screen Width View 

Many libraries have taken advantage of the full-width headers in Aspen, and Grove has had several requests for all content in Aspen to fill the full width of the screen. Inspired by the Lynx Library Consortium in Idaho, any library on Aspen now has this option.

Merging Series Records and Grouping from Series Records

Series records in Aspen allow libraries to manage series the same way they manage records for books or events. Now, when libraries have two series that should really be one, they can easily merge the series records without having to migrate titles from one record to the other. Series are also great at showing where there might be errors in automated record grouping. Manual record grouping of series titles is also now available directly from a series record.

Aspen LiDA Modernization

Aspen 26.07 includes a significant update to Aspen LiDA with the migration of the application's UI framework to Gluestack v1. This architectural update replaces Aspen LiDA's underlying UI framework, updates interface components across much of the application, and removes legacy dependencies. As part of this effort, Grove migrated numerous screens throughout the application, updated the themed interface, and modernized core functionality including search, account management, events, reading history, patron preferences, and library information.

Search and Discovery Enhancements

In addition to the updates described above, Aspen 26.07 also includes a variety of enhancements that improve discovery, collection management, and day-to-day library workflows. Libraries can now add descriptive labels to applied range filters, control which records appear in DP.LA results, and refine Explore More recommendations. Updates to grouped work displays ensure individual record descriptions appear correctly. Additional enhancements include improvements to author search behavior, Polaris patron display and preferred pickup location management, Symphony support for multi-copy holds and municipality-based self-registration, and enhancements to the Aspen and Events APIs.
